Ginger cookies

Ginger Cookies are loaded with molasses and warm spice and coated in crunchy sugar for soft, chewy, crinkly, sparkly Christmas cookies that are as pretty as they are delicious!

Ingredients

• all-purpose flour • baking soda • ground ginger • ground cinnamon • ground cloves • salt • unsalted butter • granulated sugar • eggs • molasses • sugar for rolling (granulated, turbinado, or sparkling sugar)

Whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, salt, and cloves.

Cream the butter. Add the sugar and beat until fluffy. Mix in the eggs and molasses, then blend in the flour mixture. Refrigerate the cookie dough.

Scoop the cookie dough into balls, roll in sugar, and space apart on cookie sheet. Freeze cookie sheet for 5 minutes.

Bake for 10 minutes or until the cookies crinkle in the center and darken around the edges. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack to finish cooling.
